Who are Cantus?

Cantus is a chamber choir formed in March 2001 and based in central London, UK. The group specialises in performing a wide variety of music from Faurés "Requiem" to a-cappella versions of such Christmas classics as "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas", and in differing styles from Purcell to Howells and Bach to Duruflé.

Our aims

Cantus has high aspirations. As a stand-in for numerous cathedral choirs around the UK we need to match the exacting standards set by the "in-house" singers. We also run concerts in our own right and work hard to ensure that our audiences experience performances of the highest quality.

Cantus philosophy

Although singing skills and sight reading are key attributes for those wishing to sing with Cantus we prize passion for the music above technical ability. The mechanics of singing can always be learnt but most of all we are looking to recruit people with musical souls. Of course, if you enjoy convivial company down a local hostalry afterwards all the better...
