Although Cantus is nominally London based many people sing with us from quite some way outside the Capital. Rehearsals normally take place near London Bridge and so if you do not live close enough to London to attend them it is likely that we would need you to have exceptional sight reading ability or a prior familiarity with the material to be performed.
Cantus is known for the purity of its tone and unit sound. As a result we can only recruit singers with voices of an appropriate quality to match the rest of the group. We're not just looking for soloists though and to some extent we prize passion for the music as highly as technical vocal ability. You do need to be able to read music in order to sing with us. We prefer to avoid spending too much precious rehearsal time bashing out notes when we could be working on the performance, interpretation of the music, and on mood generation.
Cantus is often looking for non-singing supporters who might be able to help us out with stewarding and catering at concerts and with production of publicity materials. Complimentary tickets for our performances are provided to such individuals. Contact us if you'd like to join our team.
