It's an amazing thing to sing in a cathedral. With their huge vaulted ceilings and many hard surfaces they are spaces with unique acoustic properties. These can take some adjusting to as we normally rehearse in rather different surroundings. Once in Winchester cathedral we had to allow ten seconds after each phrase for the notes to decay sufficiently to sing the next one.
